A Learning Disability diagnosis isn’t a sentence to a lesser life! Throughout October, the Learning Disabilities Associations of Ontario will be marking LD Awareness month. Raising awareness and reducing stigma to allow people to get the supports they need to reach their potential.

The Learning Disabilities Association of Ontario (LDAO) is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Steven Reid as its new President and CEO, effective October 9, 2024.

Our chapters are the lifeblood of support to local communities, and as such it is vital they are supported in their efforts to provide programming for their clients.

LDAO is delighted to announce that Lawrence Barns, our President and CEO, has been appointed by Minister Lecce to serve on the Minister's Advisory Council on Special Education.

LDAO wishes to congratulate our Chair, Dr. Steven Reid for this recognition of a career supporting students in Special Education and beyond. LDAO is delighted his leadership, skills and heart have been recognized in this fashion.

We call on the Government of Ontario to implement an evidenced-based literacy curriculum that is aligned with the science of reading and with the recommendations laid out by the Ontario Human Rights Commission’s (OHRC) Right to Read Inquiry.
